Buy China, Thai stocks, says HwangDBS

Now would be the good time and opportunity to buy China and Thai stocks due to their reasonable valuation, said Chief Investment Officer of HwangDBS Investment Management Bhd, David Ng. He said that while volatility will remain in the global markets with concerns on the Eurozone debt crisis, growth stories will come from the emerging markets. He said emerging markets such as China and Thailand have the potential to stage strong solid uptrends if there is progress in the move for a resolution in the Euro-zone debt crisis in the coming months which will prevent a break-up within the 27-member EU countries. "There are concerns that China will be in for hard landing, but our view is that China is more positive," Ng told Bernama, adding that there was good opportunity to buy China stocks which are reasonably valued for now. "Bank stocks in China are cheap at this level as they have priced in a lot of bad news. Similarly the consumer sector in China, which has been expensive previously, has came to reasonable valuation due to some hiccups," he elaborated. Ng said China stocks have come-off from their peak in 2007 and were now trading at lower Price Earnings. What makes the China growth story attractive is that the government policy makers are pro-active in balancing economic growth such as to limit speculation in the property market in order to allow property prices to come down. Other positive factors include a more effective taxation system which encourages business, he explained. "Policy makers are also striving to encourage the domestic sector to pick up to offset weaknesses in the external sector," he said. On the Thai stocks, Ng said it was worth looking at investing in them especially the "airports stocks" for which the valuation has come down following the recent floods in the country. -- Bernama

前輪輾過，還有救治的機會，後輪再輾，已是奄奄一息。

司機就這樣跑了！然後，他還大言不慚的把其他人和他歸於一類，以為大家都會和他一樣跑了。

我們不會跑。我們會馬上停車，下車察看女童，叫救傷車，或是趕緊把女童送進醫院。

I hv bot in 8 lots of ?????? yesterday @ price of 2.??+- ! @ ???2.??, she is now traded @ PE @ 6+ , very close to my TP of PE < 5 ! It is too water liu liu 2 buy in @ this level !

IPO of ???? stood @ 2.?? , she is now traded @ below its IPO !

Due 2 d above water liu liu factors, I jumped in n buy ! N I will buy in more if she ever dip below PE 5 !

What is PE < 5 for ????? ?

EPS= 0.47 , so..PE 5 = 2.35 ???

So..my next level of entry would be anything below ???2.34 !

Look at d first picture , during 2008 lehman bro crisis , its historical was 1.98 ( I think this level is quite impossible ) !

Remember what I said ? Bluechip < PE 15 is under value ?

My one and only criterion for buying shares

As you know, there are many investment books written about the methods used by Gurus, like Warren Buffet, Benjamin Graham, Peter Lynch and many others. After reading and mastering all the basic fundamentals on share selections, I thought I could make money from the stock market. It is not so easy. After learning from my own mistakes, now I have one and only one criterion for stock selection, that is to buy only shares that have profit growth prospect.

I will never buy any share if I am not sure that it will make more profit in the next few quarters and also better profit this year than last year. Of course you should only buy the shares with P/E ratio below the average P/E of the sector and when the increased profit is announced you the shares you have bought will look cheap.

Now you can be almost sure that you will make money if you buy planation shares. Of course, the best buy would be those with low P/E ratio which you can see in the Star or NSTP daily.

You may like to read about Coastal Contracts which I have been buying in the last several months and this stock forms a major portion of my investment portfolio.

I am not asking you to buy but if you decide to buy, you are buying it at your own risk.

The most important criterion for buying any share is its profit growth prospect. Never buy any share which cannot make increasing profit in the next few quarters. To make profit you must always remember not to buy when the share price has gone up above the P/E ratio of that particular sector, unless it has superior qualities.

The reasons for buying Coastal Contracts are as follows:
1. It has an excellent track record of making increasing profits in the last few years. Its revenue and EPS for FY 08, FY 09 and FY10 were 347million, 27 cents; 466m,46c and 672m,56cents.

2. For the fourth consecutive year, Coastal was awarded Forbes’ “Asia 200 Best Under a Billion” in 2007, 2008, 2009 and again in 2010. I do not know of any other Malaysian listed company that has this achievement.

3. It recently announced that it has received new purchase orders for 7 off shore vessels, 3 tug boats and 2 barges worth RM 268 million. The company has a total of RM 760 million purchase orders which will surely provide profits for the next few quarters. Unlike other construction contracts, all purchasers have to pay a proportionally large amount of cash deposits for their orders. That is why its account always show large amount of cash and very small borrowings. 6 of the 7 off shore vessels were ordered by Tidewater Group, the world largest and most experienced provider of marine support services. It is listed in the New York Stock Exchange.

4. The share closed on 30th March 2011 at RM 3.02 and its EPS for 2010 was 55.4 cents. It is now trading at P/E ratio of 5.5 which is exceptionally cheap for a company with such good track records.

It is 55 cts x 15 = RM8.25 ! see ? expensive ? no matter how good prospect coastal can be , if one buy it @ RM 8.25 , chances 4 her 2 make profit is SLIM !

So ..see d beauty of buying LOW PE stock ??? see how useful LOW PE can be 4 stock buying ?

I hv said it many times , dont touch call warrant ! cos of :-

Their time frame is too short ! max is only 6 months ! U will be in deep shit once mkt goes against u !

If u want something like " small knife cut big tree " y go 4 call warrant when u can choose normal warrant which hv min life spend of 3 years n above ?

Buying call warrant is like playing big b small with late uncle lim ! DONT TOUCH CALL WARRANT !

To be frank , I fully supported death sentence against drug traffickers but ....after reading d confession letter by Vui Kong , I found that it is very inhuman n cruel 2 take away a young life like Vui Kong .

2 Singapore Government n all , put yourself as this young man's parent , how u feel ? Wont u think u should give a second thought ???

Btw, I totally agreed with TL on death sentence against drug traffickers oso but somehow I still feel VERY uneasy seeing such "good " ( after insaf ) young man going 2 die soon.... extremely uncomfortable seeing that !!!

Pada masa itu juga, aku masih tidak berapa faham. Jadi, aku diterangkan banyak perkara berkenaan hukuman bunuh dan persoalan hukum. Maka, aku benarkannya kerana dia nampak layak.

Menurut peguam itu, aku harus minta belas ehsan dan minta diringankan hukuman gantung terhadapku kepada penjara seumur hidup. Dengan cara ini juga, aku boleh tinggal dalam penjara dan terus menekuni ajaran Buddha.

Aku juga berpeluang bertemu Yun Leong seperti selalu. Tetapi kemudiannya aku dengar banyak perselisihan. Bukan ini yang aku mahukan.

Aku bekerja keras mempelajari bahasa Inggeris kerana dalam kes ini, aku mesti memahami undang-undang Republik Singapura.

Akhirnya aku tiba pada satu kesimpulan: Undang-undang dibuat oleh manusia dan manusia juga yang mengubahnya, termasuklah yang berkenaan hukuman mati.

Saya fikir, saya harus berada dalam mentaliti penjara maut untuk memahami masa depan penghuninya.

Agaknya mereka sibuk

Saya juga cuba ingatkan seorang rakan, yang juga di ambang maut. Hati saya pilu, dia masih juga belum matang. Aku termangu, apakah dia benar-benar harus mati?

Atau mungkin juga kes aku dan banyak lagi yang seumpanya dipantau. Mereka nampaknya begitu berhati-hati dengan surat-surat ini walaupun ia hanya mengandungi curahan perasaanku.

Dan saya berharap semua orang, saudara-saudara lelaki dan perempuan boleh terus menatap tulisanku.

YONG VUI KONG, dijatuhkan hukuman mati pada November 2009 kerana mengedar dadah. Beliau hanya berusia 19 tahun. Pada 4 April lalu, beliau gagal dalam rayuan terakhirnya bagi mengelakkan hukuman mati mandatori.

Remaka itu dijadual digantung dalam tempoh kurang tiga bulan kecuali diberikan pengampunan oleh presiden Singapura.

买产业不如买产业股

在过去两年中，房地产价格暴涨，尤其是在尺金寸土的大都市，如吉隆坡，房屋供不应求，屋价作三级跳，涨幅尤其惊人。

首都居，大不易。首都市民，尤其是外来者，不少人只能望屋兴叹。

除非得到父母或亲人的帮助，否则的话，一般受薪阶级，要在吉隆坡购买最普通的民居，例如双层排屋，几乎已是可望不可及，即使付得起头期，每个月的供款，也把他们压得透不过气来。

房市不会形成泡沫

首都的许多职场中人，已终身成为“屋奴”。供屋子、供汽车、儿子昂贵的教育费、有增无减的生活费，已成为受薪阶级的噩梦。

房屋市场会形成泡沫吗？

我的看法是不会。理由是：

1. 在屋价上涨之前，屋价曾停滞不少过5年，就以八打灵的屋价来说，普通排屋在四、五十万令吉之间徘徊了最少5年，如今涨至七、八十万令吉，涨幅高达四、五十巴仙。

在过去5年中，建材、地价已上升了一截，再加每年约6%地通货膨胀，建屋的成本恐怕已上涨了四、五十巴仙，故过去两年的屋价涨幅，其实是调整了成本的上升，并不为过。

2. 在购屋者中，一部分是购买屋子作为自己及家人住用的，买进后就不会再卖出；另一部分是买屋作为投资的，这些都是手持多余资金，买得起屋子的投资者，有长期拥有屋子的能力，不会轻易抛售。

地皮涨幅比屋子大

投资者虽然有，但相信巴仙率不高。所以，房屋市场泡沫形成的可能性不大。

但是，另一方面，屋价也不大可能再上一层楼，理由是：

1. 受薪阶级的收入增幅，跟不上屋子的涨幅，买屋与供屋，已非中等收入受薪人士所能负担得起。

2. 租金的上升幅度，跟不上屋价的升幅。投资回酬下降，使买屋子作为投资，已不大合算。

3. 除了收租之外，房屋投资者希望产业增值。但在屋价上升之后，增值的幅度，跟投资额相比，已不具有吸引力。

在真正需要屋子的人买不起屋子，购买屋子作为投资的魅力已递减的情况下，买产业作为投资，已不具吸引力，作为反向投资策略的信徒，窃以为买产业作为投资，此非其时。

在屋价猛涨下，地皮的价格亦猛涨，而且涨幅比屋子更大。

从投资的角度看，地皮的涨幅通常比屋子大，理由是屋子会折旧，而地皮，尤其是永久地契地皮则不会。尤其是地点优良，接近市中心的地皮涨幅更加惊人。

上市产业公司3营运作风

犹记十多年前，吉隆坡黄金三角地带的商用地皮，每方尺售价不过五、六百令吉，如今每方尺2000多令吉仍有买方无卖方。

许多上市产业公司，拥有许多地点优良的地皮，假如你细读这些公司的年报的话，你会发现有些地皮，是在10年前，甚至20年前买下的。

地皮价格倍增

有关公司仍以十多二十多年前的价值入账，实际上，这些地皮的价格，可能已上升数倍，如果以目前的市价估值的话，每股净有形资产价值必然大增。

上市产业公司的营运作风，大致上可以分为三类：

第一类是买进地皮，就积极建屋出售，其盈利主要来自出售屋子。

第二类是买进地皮后，就慢慢的发展，他们的理由是屋价不断上涨，慢慢发展，较后兴建的屋子，由于屋价更高，而地皮成本低，故赚幅会更大。

与其积极发展地皮，倒不如放慢发展，这类公司的盈利，往往不如积极发展地皮的公司，但他们所持有的地皮已大幅度增值，每股净有形资产价值，比股价高一倍一点也不稀奇。

第三类是长期拥有房地产的办公楼、购物中心及工厂等，一方面有稳定的租金收入，一方面可以取得产业增值的利益，在上市公司中，雪兰莪实业和怡保花园是典型的例子，这也是所有产业投资信托公司所采的策略。

宜购二三线优质股

为什么上市产业公司不重估其地皮？

原来有关当局规定，凡是供发展用途的地皮，都不能重新估值后入账，这就是所有上市产业公司的账目中，供发展的地皮，仍以10年前，甚至20年前的价值入账的原因。

在大马股票交易所上市的产业公司，交投活跃及业绩表现标青的公司，其股价已大涨，目前的股价已反映其真实价值。

股价被低估

但第二、三线的产业公司，股价仍在低价区徘徊，以他们所拥有的地皮计算，股价肯定是被严重低估。

这些二、三线公司的股票，不受市场青睐，一方面是他们的业绩表现，乏善可陈；一方面是交投不活跃，投资及投机者不感兴趣，导致股价表现落后于大势。

投资者与其买产业作为投资，倒不如买第二、三线产业股作为投资，更加合算。

当然，在买进之前，投资者必须作严格的筛选，毕竟第二、三线产业股，良莠不齐，并非全部值得投资。

以买地皮的态度买产业股，应可获利。

In China n HK, a lot of young ppl get rich thru property investment, y ? y property investment is much easier 2 get rich as compared 2 shares mkt ? u can get d answer from below :-

Comparison of real estate investment n putting yr money in shares/ property counter ^_-

D different was :-

Assuming u hv limited fund says 100k.

With 100 K of capital, if u wanna 2 buy shares, u can only buy 100K of shares in klse . ( even u hv margin ac , d most u can buy is 150K , 50% of yr shares price , d interest 4 shares margin is much higher than housing loan rate )

but..

With 100K of capital, u can buy 1 mil property with only HOUSING LOAN RATE ( which is much lower than other term loan )

Hence..when property price goes up 30% , those who put in real estate will make 300K ( 1 mil x 30% )

4 those who put on property counters can only gain 30K out of 100k.

Another thing is , buying property is like buying Bluechip shares , 99.99% of d property will appreciate in long term !

This is d beauty of buying real estate as compared 2 shares mkt.

Another reason of y they can make huge money from property investment is bcos of shortage of land in China n HK ( Singapore oso d same !)

Shortage of land in HK is not so hard 2 understand but what about China ? China has d biggest population in this planet , migration from d rural 2 urban is d cause of shortage of land in major city like shanghai, beijing n GZ !

In Malaysia , we dont hv this problem , but y Malaysia property is doing very well in last 2 years ? 2 reasons :-

D big Gap of property price btw Malaysia n regional country like China, HK n Singapore , > 70% of those luxury n strategic properties in Msia r owned by foreigner n majority of them r from country that stated above.

4 them 2 buy a 1 mil condo / terrace house in Msia is something sup sup sui , in HK n China , 1 mil ringgit, u cant even buy a FLAT !

2) With d tight housing measurement imposed by China Government lately has cause a lot of loaded Chinese rush 2 buy property in country outside of China in particular Malaysia n Thailand.

Property investment 's risk is much lower than buying shares esp 4 those who r buying 4 own use, if property mkt down, stay or take it 4 own use till mkt recover, if price gone up, sell n make big profit.

My advice 2 those youngsters , go n buy property now ! be it a small tiny flat or high luxury Bungalow !

After much research and experience in investing I've discovered a simple strategy which works very well for profitable investing. It's a composite of Charles Schwab's and Warren Buffet's strategy. As you may know, Warren Buffet started with a little investment decades ago and now he's the third richest man in the world with over $30,000,000,000 in stock in the company he built. Charles Schwab is the genius who began the most successful off-price brokerage in the world. Here's what they say about investing and technical analysis:

Rule number one: Buy a company you'd be willing to hold for a lifetime.

When you put your money in a stock, you become an owner of that firm. You're essentially buying part of it and you reap the profit from the shares you buy in terms of earnings per share. Then the company may pay out those earnings per share in dividends or invest back into the company for growth. Make sure that you're buying a firm that you can depend on, even when the market is down. Investing isn't about the quick in-and-out schemes that lose most day-traders money. That's called gambling. Investing is putting your trust and your resources into a firm which you're willing to commit your hard-earned money to. This leads to my next point.

Rule number two: Ignore technical analysis.

Technical analysis is used to predict whether or not a stock will go up or down in the short term. Some people think that they can ignore the fundamentals of the companies they buy based on technical analysis and end up losing large amounts of money. Yet, no responsible financial advisor would recommend or practice buying based solely or largely on technical analysis. That practice is used for what I defined to be gambling. Essentially relying on technical analysis involves looking at the volume of trading, advances/declines in the share price, and trying to determine whether or not the price will continue upward or reverse. For example, a lot of people buy or sell based on momentum. They jump on the bandwagon or abandon ship with the rest of the crowd. Yet, these fluctuations based on the herd mentality do less for those playing on technical analysis and more for the investor who looks for good value in shares. For, often people selling on technical analysis overshoot and cause a stock's value to be worth less than its fair value. Thanks to people who get burned on these losses, investors find unique opportunities to snatch up great comanies at bargain-basement prices.

MEGB has fallen from d sky of 4.30 within a year , it is now traded @ 1.81 n my entry cost is ard 1.79+ .

As usual , d first consideration came 2 my mind was its FA , take alook at its latest qe, revenue jumped from R74264 to 809065 , qe earning = 9 cts, theoretically , d forward earning 4 next year shld be 9 x 4 = 36cts .

@ 1.80+- , its PE is ard 5+ !!! very attractive !

K...Low PE is not good enuf without sustainable earning ! how sustainable its earning can be ? well. as known 2 u all, MEGB is the country’s largest nursing n health education provider with
22% market share in nursing education, based on d nature of its biz , 2 sustain d above earning is definitely not a problem at all .

Earning wise... no problem !

Low 1.77

current = 1.81 , almost @ its historical low.

Safe ? YES !

Then is there any shares buy back from its bosses ? well...d answer is yes ! they hv proposed 2 buy back their shares in AGM last month.

FMR has been selling this shares like no 2molo since Dec 2010 , y they sell ? no answer yet ! but after d heavy sell down , there r not much holding in d hand of FMR liaooo, we can see it from d traded vol n d current price movement !

I think d downside potential is quite limited !

FYI, Insiderasia n Public mutual fund r holding quite alot of this bugger @ cost from 2.30 to 3.00 ,n there is no sign of selling from both of them.

D only concern 2 me is WHY FMR selling like 2molo lately ? Why ?

Except this, I see nothing wrong in this stock !

Conclusion is BUY N HOLD !

Citigroup, which hasn’t paid a quarterly dividend since 2009 because of the financial crisis, will exchange 1 new share for every 10 of common stock after the close of trading on May 6, the New York-based bank said today in a statement.
“It puts some make-up on the black eye they have,” said David Knutson, a credit analyst with Legal & General Investment Management, which oversees about $85 million of Citigroup bonds. “They’re doing it for the same reason why people put up billboards on the sides of highway. It’s advertising, it’s marketing.”
JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM), Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC) and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) were among six lenders that disclosed more than $16.2 billion in share buybacks and $5.4 billion of annualized dividend increases on March 18, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The banks made their announcements after learning they passed a Federal Reserve review of their financial health.
Citigroup fell 7 cents, or 1.5 percent, to $4.43 at 4:15 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. The shares are down 6.3 percent this year, after rising 43 percent in 2010.
‘A 2012 Thing’

Chief Executive Officer Vikram Pandit said last October that the bank wouldn’t return capital to shareholders until 2012. On a Jan. 18 call with analysts, he said that returning capital to shareholders, either through a dividend or a share buyback, was “a 2012 thing.”
“Citi is a fundamentally different company than it was three years ago,” Pandit, 54, said in today’s statement. “The reverse stock split and intention to reinstate a dividend are important steps as we anticipate returning capital to shareholders starting next year.”
JPMorgan, led by CEO Jamie Dimon, said last week it would increase its dividend to 25 cents a share from 5 cents and authorized a $15 billion stock repurchase. Wells Fargo, the fourth-largest U.S. bank by assets, authorized the repurchase of 200 million shares and increased its dividend to 12 cents.
The nation’s biggest banks were required to submit capital plans to the central bank, some of which included requests for dividend increases.
Regulators’ ‘Blessing’

“It’s a blessing from the regulators,” said Jason Goldberg, an analyst with Barclays Plc. “From Citi’s standpoint, the fact that they got to return to a dividend, while very modest, is somewhat symbolic that the handcuffs are slowly coming off.”
A 1-cent quarterly dividend would produce an annualized dividend yield of 0.09 percent based on a reverse split conducted at the March 18 share price. That would be the third- lowest among Standard & Poor’s 500 Index companies that pay a dividend, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
Citigroup, which reported a profit of $10.6 billion for 2010, will pay $87 million to shareholders for the three final quarters of this year, according to Shannon Bell, a spokeswoman for the bank.
The stock will still trade under the ticker C, and no fractional shares will be issued in connection with the reverse split, the bank said.
Shares Circulating

Citigroup has almost three times as many outstanding shares as any other company in the S&P 500, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The bank has about 29 billion shares, which will be reduced to approximately 2.9 billion by the reverse split.
At last year’s annual meeting, the U.S. Treasury Department supported a reverse stock split, “which will address the fact that the company has a much larger number of shares outstanding than is necessary to ensure adequate trading liquidity,” the department said at the time.
The U.S. government completed the sale last year of its 7.7 billion common shares, which it obtained after converting a preferred stake acquired through a $45 billion bailout of the bank during the financial crisis.

If u come n ask me, should I buy on dip ? well..my answer is :- depends on yr cash vs shares ratio, if it is 50:50 , dont buy in, if yr cash level is more than 50% , buy in till u reach d ratio of 50: 50 .

MXXXX seems like reaching its bottom @ 1.80. this one shld be a good catch @ current level, 4 safe play, buy in 2 stages , current level n 1.65 .
